When I use my laptop on battery,  the screen brightness drops.  The only way to brighten it is to increase the brightness control,  but when I return to ac power,  it's too bright.  As you'll see in the attached screen shot,  I no longer have the "adj Plan brightness"  as individual controls  -  1 for battery and 1 for plugged in.  They were there last year.  Any thoughts?Compare.JPG

Hi @Bill15029

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the steps to adjust the screen brightness.

Let's try these steps -

1) In Windows, search for and open Display settings. You can also right-click an open area of the desktop and then select Display settings.

2) To adjust the brightness, click and drag the slider bar.

Or, you may also try these steps -

Select action center  on the right side of the taskbar, and then move the Brightness slider to adjust the brightness. (If the slider isn't there, see the Notes section below.)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Were you able to make the changes?

Yes,  changes easy to make.  I'm guessing one Win 10 update made the dual brightness disappear.  I do switch a lot from battery to plug in,  so the old way where the laptop would automatically adjust is greatly missed.  Thx for covering this.
