Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Barachiel is at your service.
I understand you are in need of support,
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
When was the last time it worked without these issues?
What kind of reset you tried?
Did you run a hardware test on the computer using the F2 key during a restart?
In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:
Follow this link https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-13-ad100-laptop-pc/16851062 and update the BIOS, firmware-chipset, and Driver-Display/monitor. Once done, re-start the notebook and check if it work's. 🙂
Please reply with the details for further assistance.
Eager to help!
Barachiel

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
Let's try a few diagnosis to narrow down. 🙂
Check the display before Windows opens
Follow the steps below to see if the display is dim before Windows opens, which could indicate a hardware failure.
-
Close Windows and shut down the computer.
-
Press the power button again to start the computer, and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu displays.
Figure : Startup Menu
-
Use the down arrow key to select F10 BIOS Setup, and then press Enter.
-
When the BIOS menu opens, check the brightness of the display.
Adjust the display brightness in the battery settings
To adjust the brightness of the display using the battery setting, connect the computer to AC power while the notebook is turned on and using the battery. The battery itself has brightness settings that can be customized. This may explain why it is brighter when AC power is attached.
If the display is brighter when plugged into the AC power, unplug the AC power to check the battery brightness settings.
Click the battery icon in the system tray, and then click the brightness button until the desired brightness is achieved.

Please let me know if it worked out, and I really appreciate your patience and co-operation in this case. 🙂

Thank you for replying,
As I see you have exhausted all possible troubleshooting steps and unfortunately nothing has helped to resolve this issue.
In this scenario, the next option would be to perform a system recovery.
Doing this will wipe off everything and set the computer back to the original factory conditions. So, please remember to back up your data before initiating system recovery. If for some reason the recovery fails. The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
HP PCs - How to Reset Your Computer to Factory Settings (Windows 10, 8, 7)
Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. If your product is out of warranty, please choose paid options to get the tech support number.
HP PCs - Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive
Please note: Recommend you to disconnect the Ethernet cable if it's wired connection and disable if it's wireless connection.
Initiate system recovery and on the setup process when asked to connect to the internet, please don't connect and follow the on screen instructions to complete the setup.
I'm sending out a Private message with the information you need to get this sorted,
