I have a Edited notebooks that our company purchased about 4 years ago and is currently out of warranty.  How much would it be to repair or replace the lighting for the display (which currently has about a quarter of the screen displaying pinks instead of whites). I don't think the glass in broken, and it could be back lighting or the panel itself.

Hi @Azizi4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Does the pink discoloration appear immediately when the notebook powers on, or only after some time of use?
  • Have you noticed any flickering, dimming, or changes in brightness along with the color issue?
  • Has the notebook been dropped or exposed to pressure or liquid recently?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. External Display Test
    • Connect the notebook to an external monitor using HDMI or VGA.
    • If the external display shows normal colors, the issue is likely with the notebook’s panel or backlight rather than the graphics card.
  2. Update Graphics Drivers
    • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters.
    • Right‑click your graphics driver and select Update driver.
    • Sometimes driver conflicts can cause color distortions.
  3. BIOS Update
    • Visit the HP Support website, enter your notebook’s product number, and check if a BIOS update is available.
    • Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve display anomalies.
  4. Display Diagnostics
  • Restart your notebook and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and run the display test.

If the issue persists after these steps, it is likely a hardware problem with the LCD panel or backlight. In such cases, the display assembly may need replacement

I hope this helps.
