Hi @Martin397,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Victus laptop screen is flickering while browsing on battery, but works fine when plugged into power. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Check Display Refresh Rate Settings

Right-click on the desktop and select Display settingsAdvanced display settings.

Verify that the refresh rate is set to at least 60Hz (or the highest option available).

Sometimes, lower refresh rates on battery can cause flickering.

b. Disable Adaptive Brightness

Go to Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Power Options.

Next to your selected plan, click Change plan settingsChange advanced power settings.

Expand Display → Enable adaptive brightness and turn it Off for both “On battery” and “Plugged in.”

c. Update Graphics Drivers

Open Device Manager (press Windows + X → Device Manager).

Expand Display adapters, right-click your GPU (AMD/NVIDIA/Intel), and select Update driverSearch automatically for drivers.

Alternatively, visit HP Support Assistant or the manufacturer’s website to get the latest graphics drivers.

d. Adjust Power Mode

Click the battery icon on the taskbar.

Set the power mode to Balanced or Best performance.

Sometimes “Best power efficiency” reduces GPU performance, causing screen instability.

e. Turn Off Hardware Acceleration in Browser

In Google Chrome, go to Settings → System.

Disable Use hardware acceleration when available, then restart the browser.

Repeat for any other browsers you use frequently.

f. Check for Windows Updates

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.

Install all available updates, especially display-related fixes.

I hope this helps.
