HP Pavilion gaming 15-ak112nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a notebook HP Pavilion gaming 15-ak112nl with the following problem of flickering the screen.

The video card drivers are updated.

The problem does not occur often. The screen does not refresh, but the image is distorted as when the TV signal is not there.

What can it be?

The image as example https://ibb.co/fF1776

I tried to connect an external monitor too but the problem always persists.

Hey there! @Ibernato, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand when you power on your laptop the screen keeps flickering on your laptop.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Does the issue persist in BIOS?

As you mentioned when you power on your laptop the screen keeps flickering on your laptop.

If the issue does not persist in BIOS try updating the graphics driver and BIOS on your PC.

Try performing a BIOS default on your PC and check if it helps.

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Also, Uninstall the graphics driver from device manager and install the latest drivers and BIOS from the links below.

Link to update the BIOS.

Also, update the graphics driver using this link.

You can try updating the drivers on your PC using HP support assistant.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

Hi @MrRobot,

thanks for your reply.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

I added a bank of RAM.
Then I have the programs I use for the university.
As an antivirus I have Avira Free.
The BIOS version is F.80.
I'm afraid to update the bios because it could cause problems.

The problem is not present in the bios.
The drivers are updated.
Could it be the hard drisk the cause? First the problem occurred when the hard disk was 99%.

Currently I have the F.80 version of the BIOS.

The latest version is November 2017 right?
I'm afraid to update.
The bios could cause this problem?

I understand.
Now the ssd must get me and then I'll do a clean installation of the system.
What does it mean to not update the bios? Because HP support assistant does not detect the bios update.

@Ibernato, It's great to hear from you again.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

Did you try updating the BIOS?

I have checked the records and the latest version of BIOS for your PC is F.85 Rev.A.

Please update the BIOS and check if the SSD is getting detected.

If the issue still persists it could be a problem with the SSD connector.
