Hi @nikhildc9 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the screen flickering on an HP ENVY x360 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop (14-es0000) can be caused by various factors, including software or hardware problems.
Here are some steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:
1. Update Display Drivers
- Go to Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display Adapters and right-click your graphics driver (Intel/AMD/NVIDIA).
- Select Update Driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Alternatively, visit the HP support website to download the latest drivers for your laptop.
2. Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings (Win + I) > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
3. Disable Hardware Acceleration
Some apps, especially browsers, can cause flickering due to hardware acceleration:
- For Chrome:
- Open Chrome, go to Settings > System > Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.
- For other apps, look for similar options in their settings.
4. Adjust Display Refresh Rate
- Open Settings > System > Display.
- Scroll down and click Advanced display settings.
- Change the refresh rate to a different value (60Hz, 120Hz) and see if it reduces flickering.
5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Run a System Test to check for display issues.
- If there is a hardware fault, this tool may identify it.
6. Boot in Safe Mode
- If the flickering continues, try booting into Safe Mode:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and go to the Boot tab.
- Check Safe boot and restart your laptop.
- If the flickering stops in Safe Mode, it is likely a software issue or a driver conflict.
7. Check for External Monitors
- If you have an external monitor, connect your laptop to it to see if the flickering persists on the external display.
- If the external display works fine, the issue might be with the laptop's internal display or display cable.
8. Perform a System Restore
- If the flickering started recently after a software or driver update, try performing a System Restore to roll back to a point before the issue began:
- Open Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
Refer to this document: HP ENVY x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-es0000 User manual

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
