@ntn_lpt, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Horizontal Lines on HP Screens!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Experiencing horizontal lines on your screen could be attributed to either hardware or software issues. Here's a guide to help you determine the cause and potential solutions:

Possible Causes and Solutions

Software/Driver Issues:

Ensure your graphics driver is up to date. Outdated drivers can cause display issues, including horizontal lines. You can use the HP Support Assistant or Windows Update to check for and install updates.

  • HP Support Assistant Steps:
    1. Open HP Support Assistant from the taskbar or search menu.
    2. Navigate to the "Updates" tab.
    3. Follow the prompts to scan for and install updates.

Windows Update Steps:

  1. Search for "Check for updates" in Windows.
  2. Install any available updates.
  3. Restart your computer if prompted.

Hardware Issues:

  • Horizontal lines can also indicate physical damage to the screen or issues with the graphics processor. If updating the drivers doesn't resolve the issue, consider the following:
    • Check the Connections: If you're using an external display, ensure the cables are securely connected.
    • Test with an External Monitor: Connect your PC to an external display to check if the lines appear there. If the external monitor displays correctly, the issue is likely with the laptop screen itself.
    • Inspect for Damage: Look for any signs of physical damage, such as cracks or pixel anomalies.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
