HP Omen 15-dc1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello guys, my name is Andrew. I am saying from the start, sorry for my bad english :).

So, i have a HP Omen 15-dc1xxx, i7-8750H, RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design, 16 GB RAM.

I have this problem who is driving me crazy. When i am playing games like LOL or CS GO on him, the laptop works normal, the games run good, everything is great. But when i am charging my laptop, even if it's 50% or 100%, it suddenly goes black, my components work normal, the LEDs on the keyboard are working, the fan is running, and if it's not weird enough, i am hearing the game. All it's working but not the screen. Sadly, i need to force shutdown the laptop because the screen remains black. I bought this laptop at the end of february so it's kinda new. I had problems with this laptop in the past, he didn't recognise the graphics card so i factory reset him, but after that, the laptop worked fine for some weeks. This problem began in the middle of march. Please help me...

P.S Sometimes i saw a notification saying display driver failed to start. I have the windows Basic driver installed, it s that a problem? Like i said, this problem appeared after some weeks when i bought it.

@Andrew2101 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the Screen goes black while charging.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after a power outage or surge?
  • Did you check the switchable graphics settings and also ensure that the power setting is set to high performance.
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2syreDe Please select the correct operating system and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Also try these steps: to uninstall and reinstall the battery drivers:
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Batteries>then select all the drivers including the ACPI drivers and uninstall it one at a time. Then restart the computer and check again.
  • Now set the power plan to Hugh performance by following the relevant instructions  from here: http://hp.care/2rUUbXB
  • Now check if this gets fixed.
  • Make sure that switchable graphics is enabled.
  • Now follow all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2saFVyc (laptop screen goes black when plugged in for charging battery.)
  • Although it is for a different operating system, the steps are relevant to your operating system as well.

For further assistance check another HP forum expert’s link: http://hp.care/2sibx5c and perform the relevant steps. Again although the operating system is different the steps are valid for your Windows 10 Operating system as well.

This might fix the issue,
