I have a pavilion gbt-1a00 that came with windows 7 and has been upgraded to windows 10. It has a new mind of its own. A while ago when I turned it on the screen had rotated 180 degrees. Everything was upsided down. I ended up restoring it back to its original factory settings. This time it has rotated 90 degrees. Is there a fix other than starting all over again and what might be causing this.
Thank you

It looks like you were interacting with @MKazi, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

Good thing you've exorcised the possession,
That's awesome work, however, following the steps would have eventually resolved the issue, because we keep resetting the windows for last resorts, considering most of these issues are caused due to an incomplete update or corrupted system file during improper restart/shutdown.
That said, I'm glad we could contribute towards resolving the issue and finding the solution you were looking for.
Thanks for taking the time to let the community know about the solution
You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP Pavilion g6t-1a00 laptop. I read that the screen rotated 180 degrees and everything appeared upside down. You have reinstalled Windows and then the display rotated 90 degrees. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I did some research and personally tried it on my laptop too to rotate the screen and bring it back to normal. Ideally, if you press and hold the Ctrl+Alt keys and then press the right, left or the up arrow keys, it makes the screen rotate. So please check if any of these keys are pressed in the keyboard.
Hit CTRL + ALT + Up Arrow and your Windows desktop should return to landscape mode. You can rotate the screen to portrait or upside-down landscape, by hitting CTRL + ALT + Left Arrow, Right Arrow or Down arrow.
If the issue still persists then please continue with the following steps:
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
If the steps do not help then I suggest performing a BIOS rollback. Even if the BIOS is not updated, it will still fix any corruption in the BIOS. Please refer to the steps mentioned under "Step 1: Recover the BIOS using a key press combination".
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to let me know how it goes.
