Screen randomly goes black

Hi

I'm hoping someone can help

I picked up this laptop only a few weeks ago and everything was fine until about a week ago when the screen will randomly turn black (might not have any issues for a day and then 3 times in an hour).  I believe that the system is still running but it's as if the screen has gone to sleep.  There have been 2 occasions where the screen has returned but with washed out almost black & white colouring.

I've searched around for a lot of options and have performed driver updates, hard resets and changed the power settings but it still happens.

I have uninstalled everything that I installed (not that there was much) except for Steam.

Can anyone suggest anything else before I take it back to the shop?

Hi

Update -  whilst the screen was black I plugged the laptop into my tv via HDMI and the picture was fine. 

Does this his mean that there is a hardware issue?
