Since upgrading to Windows 11 my Omen 15 -DC0522NA has started to underperform. The most obvious problem is that sometimes when the laptop goes to sleep I can't then return from sleep, instead the screen goes black/blank and keyboard and mouse appear unresponsive but can still hear the laptop working (fans spinning), the power button light is on and the HD/Processor light flashes. If I press the power button the laptop goes back to sleep (which is normal) but it still wakes to a black/blank screen and so requires hard-reset to allow clean reboot.
Help! I have searched high and low for answers online but with no luck.
I noticed that having run HP's online driver detection there is a more recent version of the BIOS to download but HP Support Assistant and Windows Update don't present it as an option/necessity to download. Should I upgrade the BIOS? Should I upgrade all drivers where there is a more up to date version on the HP website?
Thanks

Not until you resolve the current issue. A BIOS update is rarely a "cure-all", and should not be the first action you take when trouble-shooting.
If the HP Support Assistant tells you that there are newer device-drivers, then I would allow those updates to be installed.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Any suggestions where to start in trying to fix the black/blank screen and otherwise unresponsive laptop?
In any case, is it advisable to update all the drivers if there are more up to date versions available, and even if HP Support Assistant or Windows Update don't push them?
Thanks.

Only if you are certain that the device-drivers are supplied by HP, not from some dubious "third-party" web-sites.
When you power-on your computer, start tapping ESC until you see a menu from where you can run the HP Hardware Diagnostics. Run the test of your disk-drive. That is the usual "suspect" for a slow computer.
Also, many notebook computers deliberately run much slower when running on battery-supplied power.
Check the "power" settings within the Windows "Settings" app, to see how much slower it is configured to run.

I ran the Hardware Diagnostics as suggested but it didn't identify a problem and I typically only run my laptop connected to the mains (not on battery).
Concerns with performance may have been resolved - in-game connection drop-outs appear to be because of my ISP!
This still leaves the issue with my screen not waking up from sleep and so requiring a hard reboot. Any ideas what may be causing this and how to resolve?
Also, I am still struggling to find support on which are the recommended HP drivers for use with Windows 11? The HP website lists all drivers for my laptop but only lists them as compatible with Win 10 so not sure I should install them if they are more recent than current drivers on my system.

I think that is a very bad idea to try to install device-drivers for Windows 10 onto any Windows 11 system.
Rather, I think that Windows Update will identify, download, and install all the appropriate device-drivers from MIcrosoft, and the HP Support Assistant will do the same for the device-drivers from HP. In this case, you must "trust" that Windows Update and the HP Support Assistant will make better decisions than you can make.
Within "Device Manager", are the "properties" of the keyboard and/or mouse set to "allow this device to wake the computer", or does a "sleep" cut power to these devices, as an energy-saving measure?

Thanks for continuing to provide your expertise..
As you suggest I'll leave it to Windows Update and HPSA.
As for keyboard and mouse - yes, they are allowed to wake my laptop.
I am giving the following video a go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3310I9vMcQ&list=TLPQMDgwMzIwMjK7jswfGMZRgQ&index=1
It recommends switching off Link State Power Management. However, the video appears to be aimed at resolving issue where the laptop/computer doesn't wake from sleep at all. Thing is, my laptop is clearly on (hardrive light flckers and can hear the fan) it's just that the screen won't turn back on!

Have you tried CTRL-ALT-DELETE ? That has worked for me, when sometimes my "sleeping" computer does not respond to the SHIFT key on the keyboard, or a wiggle of the mouse.

Yes, I have tried ctrl+alt+del but it doesn't help. If I keep hitting keys I can sometimes fudge my way to getting the Accessibility functions to start talking to me so I know the laptop is on it's just the screen won't wake.
