Whenever I have a few slides and tend to scroll through them in powerpoint a little bubble (see blue arrow) tends to appear and it scrolls not through the slides but also chaotically through the animations on the slides (see screenshot).

Does someone experience the same problems and/or has a fix for this problem?

@Laurens_1996,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

  • Do you face this issue only while using PowerPoint or does this happen when using other apps?

The latest version of Windows available is Windows 1809. The next update i.e Windows 1903 is scheduled to be released later this month.

Check the Windows 10 release information from this link

Please check the correct version of Windows on your PC.

  • Press the 'Windows' key + 'R' key together and release the buttons.
  • Type 'winver' and hit ok.
  • This displays the current Windows version.

Let's try to Uninstall and Re-install the Touchpad Driver. This may fix the issue.

  • From the Windows, search for Control Panel
  • Go to Programs and Features > Programs
  • Select the Synaptics TouchPad Driver > Uninstall
  • Reboot the PC
  • Install the TouchPad drivers from this link or manually search for the driver from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/
  • Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions and complete the installation.
  • Reboot the PC.
  • Try opening the PowerPoint app and check.

Also, refer to the scrolling settings under 'Scrolling using a TouchPad or ClickPad' section from this link

Dear Atharva_gp,

I am on windows 10 build 1903.

Furthermore, I have reinstalled the drivers without success the problem still persisted.

Do you have anymore suggestions?

@Laurens_1996,

Have you faced this issue only with PowerPoint or while using the other applications as well?

Let's try these steps:

  • Check and Update Windows
    • Press the Windows Key and search 'check for updates'
    • Click on check for updates and update Windows
    • Try to use PowerPoint again after the update, if the issue persists, proceed to the next step

  • Remove and re-install the PowerPoint application
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > programs > Select the PowerPoint application > Uninstall
    • Reboot the PC
    • Re-install the PowerPoint application
    • check the application.
    • If the issue persists, proceed to the next step

  • Create a New User Account
    • Create a local user account on your Windows
    • Refer to this KB article from Microsoft for creating a local user account.
    • Once the user account is created, try to use the PowerPoint application and check how it functions

Let me know what happens.

Cheers!

Dear Atharva_gp,

This issue is only with powerpoint.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Spectre-2017-2-Finger-Touchpad-Scroll...

I saw this thread before that confirms my observations of this white orb appearing when scrolling.

I hope synaptics can update its drivers, in order to prevent this in the future.
