I have a HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen that came with my Laptop. The information that comes with the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen is useless. The information that is at HP is not for the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen, it is for a different product. After going through all of the setup information and not being able to pair my HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen I contacted HP Support. After working remotely with HP Support it was determined that my original HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen was not working correctly. After a HORRIBLE experience with FedEx I finally received the new HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen. When I try to setup the new HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen I have the exact same thing happening with this new one. Am I doing something wrong? I am following the instruction as is in the instructions. I cannot find what else to do other than what comes with the instructions which is nothing.
I have had dozens of HP in my family, mostly from my suggestion of what I have always felt is an excellent laptop manufacturer. The support, documentation and assistance and follow up with this product and HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen I am for the 1st time re-evaluating my perception.
Can someone please help on how to setup a HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen?

Hi @Hawkeye58,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
To set up the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen, follow these steps:
1. Check Compatibility
Ensure that your device is compatible with the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen. This pen uses Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP 2.0), which is typically supported by newer Windows devices, such as certain HP laptops, tablets, or convertible devices.
2. Charge the Pen
The HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen comes with a rechargeable battery. Before using it, charge the pen:
- Connect the pen to a USB-C charging cable and plug it into a compatible charger or USB port.
- A charging indicator should light up to show it's charging, and it may turn off or change color once fully charged.
3. Pair the Pen with Your Device
Bluetooth Pairing (if required): If your device needs Bluetooth pairing, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
- Press and hold the pen’s Bluetooth button (usually located near the top of the pen).
- On your device, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Look for the HP pen in the list of available devices and select it to pair.
4. Install Pen Drivers (if necessary)
- Typically, Windows will automatically detect the pen and install necessary drivers. However, if your device does not respond to the pen, visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers or software updates for your device and pen model.
5. Test the Pen
Once paired, test the pen on your screen. You can use it for drawing, writing, or navigating. Ensure it is functioning properly by checking if it responds to touch and pressure sensitivity, and if the tilt function works (useful for shading in drawing apps).
6. Configure Pen Settings (Optional)
You can adjust the pen settings on your device by going to:
- Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink (for Windows 10/11). Here you can customize the button functions, adjust the pressure sensitivity, and manage other features like tilt functionality.

Irwin6, thank you very much getting back to me. I have been in contact with Tech Support but if there is anything that I can do before hand to solve my issue I am willing to do.
1. Yes the pen is compatible with the Laptop, it comes as part of laptop, I did not buy separately.
2. All drivers and updates have been performed.
3. I have followed all of the suggested steps as laid out below.
Pairing is the issue that I have not been able to perform.
1. This HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen does not have a turn on button or switch.
2. Instructions say to press top button for 3 seconds and a blue ring will turn on (Bluetooth connecting), Blue Ring never turns on. No matter what button you press or for how long.
3. I have never been able to get the blue ring to turn on and I now have 2 HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pens.
Everyone has been very helpful but this pen has never turned on the "Blue Ring" and therefore I have never been able to pair. There is some functionality with the pen on different application but the buttons (switches) have never worked and I am assuming that is because the pen has never paired.
Hopefully I will be able to get to a fix this issue, in the meantime I feel the pen is partially functional. If you have any further suggestion I am willing to do what ever I can do.
Thank you
