HP ENVY13-D040WM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have tried several things, reducing the resolution on this lap top, but crual applications such as E Trade Pro, and Quickbooks have become almost useless, the Apps open to such small sized that I end up using a different machine. Please Help!

Product Specifications confirm that your notebook display is in the "exceptional" range:

Display
13.3" diagonal QHD+ IPS BrightView WLED-backlit (3200 x 1800)

Nice display.

Programs that are not coded (written) to be viewed on this high density (very high pixel count) display are going to exhibit "tiny window" when that program's normally "spread out" pixels are squished down to render on the 3200 x 1800 display.   (No emails, please, I realize the statement is not precise.)

I imagine the programs look a bit closer to "normal" when viewed on a 1920 x 1080 display.

In other words, it is not the fault of the computer with the nice display, it is the a result of the (older?) program that is not written for the high DPI count.

This article provides and explanation and a couple of "workarounds" to help reduce the eye strain.

How to Make Windows Work Better with Super High Resolution Displays

The article mentions Windows 8.1 -- the essentials are the same for Windows 10.
