Spectre X360 13-w030tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My almost 4 year old X360 looks and works like a brand new laptop, but just recently BOTH shift keys stopped working.

It was in the beginning "fixable" by the keep trying approach.  I would tap the shift key a few times, maybe it would take 5 to 7 tries before it worked. Then that approach stopped working, and I did manage to get it working by holding down BOTH shift keys and typing a few letters. When it started working, it stayed working, until the computer was restarted. Eventually this stopped working, so nothing can make the shift keys work now, they are completely dead.

So, I have tried EVERYTHING that all the forums have suggested, including turning off Sticky Keys, uninstalling the drivers and restarting, trying to update the keyboard, mouse and touchpad drivers, editing the registry, etc, without success.

I have installed a test SSD with a fresh copy of Windows 10 Version 2004, no luck. I tried installing a copy of Ubuntu, still don't work.

At this point, you are all thinking, did you try an external keyboard?  Yes, I did and it worked perfectly (hence my perfect grammar in this post LOL), so that tells me it is definitely hardware related. I tried disconnecting the keyboard, cleaning the contacts on the motherboard and the keyboard, and reconnecting. That didn't work. I have purchased a brand new keyboard/palm rest which also gives no joy....

So is this a motherboard fault?  If so, how? and why? A very expensive laptop has now become useless unless I attach an external keyboard. That doesn't work for me when travelling, and does anyone have any OTHER suggestions on how to resolve this problem, short of buying a new computer.

Many thanks in advance...
