How can I display the notification when I turn on/off Caps Lock, Num Lock, etc.?
I tried to install HP System Event Utility from
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101501-102000/sp101543.exe.
I also tried to install it from the Microsoft Store:
https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p4w8rfn9m2t?rtc=1&activetab=pivot%3Aoverviewtab&hl=en-us&gl=US.
However, when I installed it from the Microsoft Store, it worked very slowly and sometimes didn't display anything.

how can I turn it on? Thank you for your help

Hi @manhtq0508,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To enable notifications for Caps Lock, Num Lock, and similar keys on your Victus by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC, it's great that you've already tried installing the HP System Event Utility. However, there are a few steps and alternative methods you can try to resolve the issue.

Check for System Event Utility Settings

After installing the HP System Event Utility (either from the website or the Microsoft Store), follow these steps:

  • Open the HP System Event Utility from your Start menu.
  • Look for settings related to notifications for Caps Lock and Num Lock.
  • If there is an option to enable or configure key status notifications, make sure it is turned on.

Check Windows Settings for Keyboard Feedback

If the HP utility isn't providing the notifications reliably, try enabling On-Screen Keyboard feedback through Windows settings:

  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
  • Under the Use Toggle Keys section, enable the option that makes a sound when you press Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock. This won't show a notification on-screen, but it will beep when you press these keys.

Alternatively, try:

  • Settings > Devices > Typing.
  • Under Advanced keyboard settings, ensure that any toggle key feedback options are enabled.

Ensure Driver and Software Updates

Ensure that your laptop's drivers, including the keyboard and HP utility software, are up-to-date:

  • Go to Device Manager > Keyboards and right-click on your keyboard driver to update it.
  • Visit HP Support and check for any available updates for your HP Victus laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, none of your suggestions solved my problem. However, I encountered some strange behaviors while trying the "Check for System Event Utility Settings" suggestion:

  1. Installing HP System Event Utility from HP Support

    • Initially, I noticed that the HP System Event Utility did not appear in my Start menu. However, when I checked Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, the utility was listed as installed.

    • When I locked the touchpad to play games, a notification appeared (I’ve highlighted it with a red square; the notification itself has no border). However, there were no notifications when I pressed Caps Lock, Num Lock, or similar keys.

    • Additionally, the Fn + Esc hotkey did not show the system information dialog.
  2.  Installing HP System Event Utility from Microsoft Store
    • After installing this version, I could find the HP System Event Utility in the Start menu, and I was able to run it.
    • The first noticeable change was that the Fn + Esc hotkey worked and displayed the system information dialog.

    • However, there were still issues: unlike the version from HP Support, this one displayed notifications as expected but only sporadically. For example, I had to press Num Lock or Caps Lock multiple times for the notification to appear once. The same issue occurred with other keys, such as disabling the touchpad.
