Envy x360 Convertible 13-ag0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

Product number: 4RE56EA#ABU

My Envy x360 Convertible 13-ag0xxx has developed a thin single vertical red line about 2.5" from the right hand side of the display. It's not so noticeable with a colour background but with a white background such as a pdf presentation, it's highly noticeable. The line doesn't show up on a screenshot only on a photo of the screen. Please see attached.

Any advice and fixes please ?

Thanks

As you have mentioned that the line is visible on the BIOS screen as well, which confirms a hardware issue and I recommend you contact support and check the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting a red vertical line on the display.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

If you continue facing the issue, then boot to BIOS and check whether the line is visible on the BIOS screen.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi

Thanks for your assitance.

I used the link provided

I have done a BIOS system update from the 1 update listed.  I tried to do a graphics driver update as there were 4 listed but windows blocked me from doing so.

I still have the red line. Its not visible at the hp start up screen but maybe this is due to a dark background. The line is visible once the laptop has booted and is visible on the BIOS screen.

The laptop is out of hp warranty but still under warranty with John Lewis who have also been offering technical assistance.

Thanks

Hi The_Fossette

Thanks for your advice. Yes I agree that this appears to be hardware problem with the screen.

Although I am out of the hp 1 year warranty it is still covered by John Lewis the retailer who have been good with their support and have offered to arrange a courier for repair. Luckily John Lewis offer extended warranties on their computer products free of charge so I will leave it in their hands.

Thanks & Kind Regards
