So...i have this powerful machine, which i want to use mainly for number crunching ( graphics is needed, but secondary here...) .

I hear that it has two Graphics cards, an integrated Intel, and a discrete NVIDIA Quadro 1000M. My problem is that the Operating System which i am planning to use, ( OpenBSD 7.1 amd64 ) has no driver for this card. So far i have been able to use it with software rendering with export LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=True in my user .kshrc dotfile.

I was thinking, if i simply remove the NVIDIA Gpu, will it default to Intel integrated card, so that OpenBSD will use it instead od software rendering with VGA ? because OpenBSD has total compatibility with intel integrated G Cards, and as far as i know, i cannot enable the system to use the Intel GPU at boot with BIOS configuration....

so, would simply removing/disconnecting the NVIDIA sort of "force" Intel to be used as default ?

Best regards,

Alex

@Alexxu,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Short answer: yes.

Meaning, that if you remove your discrete aka removable graphics card(s) and assuming your processor has integrated graphics, it will indeed 'force' your PC to use your CPU's embedded graphics.

But perchance you don't have to remove anything.  Try the steps from this link and see if that works for you: How to Switch Between Dedicated GPU and Integrated Graphics (helpdeskgeek.com).

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
