I bought a HP presence 4k AI webcam and am trying to find what software is needed to use the Ai features on my Surface windows office laptop.

I can use it now witht he basic features but it needs software for the other fancy features.

Hi,

first of all, this is NOT an office user/home office camera.
This cam is destined for meeting room usage/experience (VC/MTR).

Of course, it has superior 4k resolution with 12MP sensor, but the field of view (FOV) is pretty large.
This means, if the cam is like positioned half a meter away from you, you likely still see the left and right additional 3 meters of space next to you. So for personal meetings not as good as you want it to be, since you are not really in the focus.

The native Windows camera (or e.g. Teams itself) settings (manual Zoom) are OK for controlling the cam most part, but e.g. for zoom the quality gets worse. You have to understand the cam has not just digital zoom, but also optical zoom, sadly i think the Windows cam setting cant use the preferred optical zoom.

Regarding app from HP.
Yes, myself tested numerous ones from HP and there is really one supported one, coming from the original Meeting room PC unit.
Look out for "HP Presence Smart Set Up"
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/swdetails/hp-presence-meeting-space-solutions-with-microsoft-te...

This can even loaded from MS Update Catalogue:
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=hp%20presence

Anyway, this app can let you activate AI with autofocus (more slow, not snappy enough for instant calls), but the setting are nowhere near to what you might want for a personal cam.
Its like either on or off for non-VC/MTR purpose.

In case you want more features like crop, snip etc, i sadly need to suggest 3rd party tools, which create virtual cams and need admin rights (in case its corporate machine).

So overall, sorry, you might need to look for an alternative cam, depending on your setup and needs.

Hope it helps

Thanks
BR
