I have an issue of the screen always flickering with a mess of colored lines/dots (see picture).  One thing of note, if I open a movie and run it, the screen has no issue.  The movie cannot be minimized but must be open and running.  So my temp solution is to keep a movie running.  Also, have hooked it up to an external monitor via HDMI and screen still has issues but external monitor is okay.  I have tried different resolutions as well with no use.   Any help on this issue??IMG-20180911-WA0005.jpg

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with the computer. I will be delighted to assist you here.

If it doesn't appear with an external display, then it look's like a mechanical failure.

In this case, I'd request you to contact phone support team for further assistance. 🙂

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Feel free to reach out if need any other assistance.

Thanks,

Barachiel

I just got my HP envy about 6 weeks ago from Costco and my screen has flickered that color mess for about a second 3-4 times this week .  should I be concerned that this will get worse and exchange it hoping that this won't happen with the new device?

thanks for your help.
