The screen flickers violently most of the time,
it does so with everything disconnected and with peripherals connected, with and without power cord plugged in
the secondary screen via HDMI works perfect and is not affected by this glitch
this means my laptop has become useless as such since I cannot use it without a secondary screen attached.
I have tried adjusting the refresh frequency as suggested here on the forum, hard reset etc... nothing seems to help.
please advise!
thank you

This started with the recent driver update: Intel Corporation - Display - 27.20.100.8280
I went into Device Manager -> Display Adapters, right-clicked on Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics, and clicked on Uninstall Device. The screen will go into a default 4K driver which will make everything look tiny. Just go to Display Settings (right click on desktop) and set the scale to something that allows you to see things a little better (200%+).
Back in Device Manager, select Action -> Scan for hardware Changes and it will find the old driver (26.20.100.7810). All is back to normal now.

Lo and behold, later in the day, I get prompted to update to the same Intel Display driver ... again. I couldn't opt to decline it so I let it continue with the install. This time, it worked just fine. There was another update included this time though: an HP firmware update. I'm not sure if that's what made a difference.
