After HP replaced the mainboard in my x360 twice, destroyed my SD card and never solved the initial problem with my SD card reader, they sent me this newer model with a 4k OLED display.  It also has the same issue with the internal SD card reader, but worse, it gives me headaches looking at the screen.  Looks like 4 other people having the same issue on this thread you can't reply to any more: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/New-Spectre-4K-display-grainy-in-whit...

Does anyone else have this problem?  Has anyone that requested a replacement get one with a different screen?  I'm curious if some batches use crappy screens from crappy venders or if they all do.

Honestly this newer laptop feels like a downgrade because driving a 4k display vs my old 2.5k (or whatever it was marketed as) wastes more energy, uses more battery in addition to OLED taking more energy than IPS... all this while giving me a headache.  I've had OLED laptops before, seems HP is buying sub-par displays... it's driving me nuts.

Side Rant:

HP support has been absolutely awful.  I knew I never should have sent in my original laptop... I asked them to verify whether it was normal behavior for the internal SD card to go to sleep after 12 seconds of inactivity.  They said it wasn't normal even though my wife's envy had the same issue.  You can see it go from D0 power state to D3 in device manager... then it takes 3 seconds on my Spectre and 1 second on my wife's Envy to go back to D0.  This makes is unusable for expanded storage.  It hangs my DJ software if I try to put music on the SD card.  I asked them if they could attempt to replicate the problem on a different machine before I send my laptop across the country to be taken apart and put back together again.  They never did... they told me to just send it in and they'd fix the problem.  They couldn't even put the machine back properly.  The chasis and card reader were out of alignment and I ended up wedging an sdcard  between the two and it destroyed it.  Sent it back and they gave it a 2nd mainboard replacement.  When I got it back the problem still existed and there's a clicking/snapping noise when handle the laptop like some tab or screw isn't in properly.  HP's repair center is incapable of even understanding the problem.  WILL NEVER BUY HP AGAIN.

Hi @CLTEric,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

I see that there is an issue with the laptop and may need repair.

This issue might require one-on-one interaction to fix it.
