Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have been using my Spectre x360 for over a year and a half, and it works perfectly well in all aspects except that the touch screen recently stopped responding to any input. I have been looking for solutions on the forum for a few days, and can't manage to find a solution that fixes the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Hi@EdSyrett, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I see from your post that you're having issues with the touchscreen not working properly on your HP Spectre notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

In this scenario, I would suggest here is to follow these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

The next thing, I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform a Windows update:

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, chipset and graphics card drivers on your computer from  HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have performed the hard reset on the computer, as well as updated all drivers, the BIOS, and Windows. The touchscreen is still unresponsive. Are there any more steps I can take to troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi@mhowe107,

We have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to check to get to know its hardware is faulty, not a software issue.

I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.
