When I first installed EzTiltPen (1.0.0.22) and left the HP Pen Control installed, I connected the Tilt Pen through Bluetooth and for a minute tilt seemed to work - but badly. Tilt was inconsistent, and seemed to vary by tablet orientation, not actual pen tilt.
So I uninstalled/reinstalled EzTiltPen and HP Pen Control... but now it doesn't work anymore!
Is this because Spectre ac0XX is NOT compatible with tilt functionality? Please help me figure this out, I have to return this (manufacturer refurbished) Spectre because tilt functionality is CRUCIAL for me... it's the reason why I bought a Spectre!

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post that you are having issues with the HP Tilt pen not working on your HP notebook.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Are you referring to HP Spectre 13-ac000 x360 Convertible PC or Is it a different model? Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Have you replaced the battery?
Have you tried to update the Bios?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
After reviewing your post thoroughly, I did go through the Maintenance and service guide of your notebook and found that HP Spectre 13-ac000 x360 Convertible PC supports Active stylus
Models: 13-ac000 – 13-ac099; computer color – natural silver 910942-001
Models: 13-ac000 – 13-ac099; computer color – dark ash silver 920241-001
Please note these are the parts which are tested and compatible on your PC. If you wish you can try others at your own discretion. HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance.
Alternatively, I would suggest you to update the Bios and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP Support website, using this link.
I would recommend you install the latest HP Pen control: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
HP Pen control - Click here to download and install it.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
If the issue persists, uninstall the keyboard drivers from device manager and restart the computer.
- Please right-click on start>select device manager>Expand Keyboards>Right-click on the listed drivers and uninstall them. Then restart the computer and check again if the issue is fixed.
- If it continues, please replace the stylus battery and check again if it gets resolved.
- If it persists, please try to perform the prescribed troubleshooting steps from this link: HP PCs - Touch Screen Stylus Pen Is Inaccurate or Stops Working
I hope this should do the trick. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.
Hope this answers your question.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

- Yes, referring exactly to the HP Spectre 13-ac000 x360 Convertible PC (dark ash).
- It's a refurbished unit just purchased, battery is working fine. If you refer to the pen, I have the HP Tilt Pen which is rechargeable, and yes, it's fully charged.
- Yes, BIOS was updated, and I was hoping it also fixed random screen flicker issues, but they only got worse (that was the main reason why I'm returning this faulty unit).
I know it also "supports" Active Stylus (although according to HPs compatibility chart, it looks like this Spectre model does not support tilt functionality, and HP hopes no one will notice that before they buy it), but I'm referring specifically to the one I have, which is the HP Tilt Pen (different pen model).
- I already updated BIOS and all drivers through the provided tools, and even tried to look for optimal drivers with Snappy Driver Installer, to no avail.
- Keyboard drivers were re-installed also with no effect.
I wanted someone to confirm if this Spectre model even supports tilt functionality (according to the HP table it doesn't after all), but you assume it does. Yet, none of the solutions you suggest are working, which reinforces HPs customer support behavior of a) not really listening to customer's question and b) making it (purposely?) difficult to determine which Spectre serial number ranges support which functionalities. For those reasons I'm not marking your answer as Accepted Solution.
The Spectre is a nice looking machine, but due to no tilt functionality and random screen flickering, sadly I decided to return it and get a Surface Pro 6, which takes hardware and customer support seriously, and is more likely to be worth the money. Thanks!
