My display problems started with faint vertical lines last year, which progressed slowly and about a month ago turned into a completely illegible screen (white blob). I have to connect via HDMI cable to an external monitor so I can work on my computer--obviously suboptimal. I purchased my computer in July 2020.
I took the computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy--they said they could replace the display for about $600 (and about 4 weeks). I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with repairs directly through HP? I don't even know whom to contact, in order to find out if it is possible to have it repaired by HP, and if so how much it might cost.
Thanks for any guidance.

Hi @BKNags,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Spectre x360 is experiencing display failure, there are several repair options available, depending on the cause and severity of the issue. Here are a few things you can try.
- Check the warranty: If your HP Spectre x360 is still under warranty, you may be able to get a free repair or replacement from HP.
- Check for software issues: Sometimes display issues can be caused by software problems. Try updating your graphics drivers and running a malware scan to see if that fixes the issue.
- Check the hardware: If the display issue is caused by hardware problems, you may need to have your HP Spectre x360 serviced by a professional. This could involve replacing the screen, graphics card, or other components.
- DIY repairs: If you're comfortable working with electronics, you may be able to fix some display issues yourself. This could involve replacing a damaged cable or connector or even re-seating the display connector on the motherboard. However, be aware that opening up your laptop may void your warranty and could be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.
- Ultimately, the best repair option will depend on the specific issue you're experiencing and your level of comfort with DIY repairs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
