Most of the time I spend on my computer I spend editing photos, and I came to notice that, after exporting, some photos would seem much too dark compared to how I had edited them to look on my PC.

I then noticed at one point that, upon switching from a brighter scene (such as my home screen) to a darker one (such as the photos app in dark mode or my editing software set to a dark background), the screen would very subtly change in brightness and contrast levels, seemingly getting brighter when switching to the darker setting.

This is an issue for me, as when the screen seemingly brightens when there is a darker background, such as the one I edit with, I adjust for that level of brightness and contrast, only for it to look wrong on any other screens I view it on.

I googled the issue best I could, however all I could find was people with the opposite issue of mine (their computers would get seemingly brighter with bright scenes and seemingly darker with dark ones). is this some background feature that can be potentially disabled? My quick fix is to simply keep the photos app in light mode and to set a white background in Lightroom, however I'd prefer to be able to have it dark as the constant white background is strenuous on the eyes.
