Hi @Sangeeta5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I’ll be happy to help with the Synaptics touchpad driver on your HP Notebook. The correct driver is model-specific, so I don’t want to provide a driver that may not belong to your particular notebook. HP also recommends identifying the exact product before selecting the touchpad driver.

Before we proceed, could you please provide a few details?

  • What is the exact HP Notebook model/product number?
  • Which Windows version are you using: Windows 10 or Windows 11?
  • What exactly is happening with the touchpad?
    • Not working at all?
    • Working intermittently?
    • Touchpad works, but gestures/scrolling don't work?
    • Touchpad missing from Windows completely?
  • Have you recently reinstalled Windows or performed a Windows update?
  • In Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices or Human Interface Devices, do you see Synaptics, HID-compliant touchpad, or an Unknown device?
  • Is there any yellow exclamation mark or error code shown?

If possible, please send a screenshot of Device Manager, especially the Mice and other pointing devices and Human Interface Devices sections. That will help us identify whether this is actually a missing Synaptics driver or a detection issue.

Once we have the exact HP model and what Windows is currently detecting, we can identify the correct HP Synaptics driver and the appropriate troubleshooting steps rather than installing a generic or incorrect package. HP's touchpad guidance also recommends checking Windows/Device Manager and, when needed, running the HP touchpad hardware diagnostic.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
