I don't know if this is the right place to post this so I am sorry if it's not.

My Touch-pad isn't working anymore (it was fine yesterday and I don't know what happened to it overnight  but it stopped working this morning).

The cursor is nowhere to be found on the screen (I am now using my touch screen to move around).

I tried going on Device Manager and saw that the Synaptics SMBus ClickPad is in the hidden devices. There's a warning triangle on top of it. A code 24 is shown with "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."

I tried updating the driver, I tried restarting my laptop, I tried "Roll Back Driver", I tried disabling and enabling again, I tried uninstalling and installing an updated version of the driver, I tried troubleshooting, updated windows (version 1903). I was thinking about restoring my laptop to a restore point but the only restore point available is the one from today's update that I had performed in order to fix the problem, which did not work, so going back to a restore point won't work.

How do I fix it ? :'(

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run a hardware/touchpad test:

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/pc-diags.html

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click Component Tests.

Click Touchpad Test.

Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Also, does it work fine in BIOS? Tapping the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen is supposed to get you to the menu of options. Then select the F10 option to access the BIOS.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!
