I’m currently reinstalling drivers which is no easy task when the buttons are maybe not working. Pretty sure this button to the right, below the touchpad will not be fixed by a driver because it’s stuck. Help! And I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it back here. Why is HP so hard to navigate?

Hi @Dealwithitlater,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the touchpad button on your HP Notebook is stuck, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.
- Restart your notebook: Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Save your work and restart the notebook to see if the touchpad button starts working again.
- Clean the touchpad button: It's possible that dirt, debris, or dust might be causing the button to stick. Use a soft cloth or cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to clean around the button. Be gentle and avoid using excessive liquid.
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the touchpad button for any visible damage or obstruction. If there is any physical damage, such as a broken button or loose connection, it may require professional repair or replacement.
- Update touchpad drivers: Outdated or corrupted touchpad drivers can sometimes cause issues. Visit the HP support website, enter your notebook model number, and download the latest touchpad drivers available for your specific model. Install the drivers and see if it resolves the problem.
- Adjust touchpad settings: There might be settings related to the touchpad button that could affect its functionality. Go to the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (macOS), locate the touchpad settings, and ensure that the button is configured correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
