Hi @Mohit199131,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error message indicates that the touchpad driver you are trying to install is not compatible with your current operating system version (Windows 10, version 10.0.19045). Here's how to resolve this issue.
Verify Your OS Version
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Under Windows specifications, check your OS version to ensure it's Windows 10, version 10.0.19045.
Download the Correct Driver
- Go to the HP Drivers & Software page.
- Enter your notebook's model number.
- Select your operating system version manually if it isn't detected.
- Download the latest Synaptics, ELAN, or Precision Touchpad driver listed.
Uninstall Existing Touchpad Drivers
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad driver (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN) and choose Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device if available, then restart your laptop.
Install the Downloaded Driver
- Run the downloaded driver file as an administrator by right-clicking and selecting Run as administrator.
- Follow the installation prompts.
- Restart your computer after the installation completes.
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates to ensure your system is up to date, as missing updates can cause driver compatibility issues.
Try Compatibility Mode If the driver still fails to install:
- Right-click on the driver installer file.
- Select Properties > Compatibility tab.
- Check Run this program in compatibility mode for, then select an earlier Windows version like Windows 8.
- Apply changes and rerun the installer.

Use a Generic Windows Touchpad Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad device.
- Select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Let Windows attempt to find and install a generic compatible driver.
HP Support Assistance
- Use the HP Support Assistant tool to detect and install the correct driver automatically.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
