Hi @RonalSamaddar12,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for describing the issue in detail—what you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion laptop sounds like a combination of keyboard malfunction, touchpad interference, or possibly even firmware or driver corruption. Since you've already replaced the keyboard and the issue persists, let's go through a structured approach to fix it:
1. Check for External Interference
- Disconnect any external USB devices (mouse, keyboard, drives).
- If you're using a wireless mouse or keyboard, remove the dongle temporarily.
2. Disable the Touchpad Temporarily
Sometimes, a faulty touchpad causes erratic cursor movement:
- Press Fn + F6 or Fn + F9 (varies by model) to disable the touchpad.
- Or go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and toggle it off.
3. Boot into Safe Mode
This helps determine if the issue is software-related:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab > check Safe boot > select Minimal.
- Restart your PC and observe if the issue persists.
If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, it's likely a driver or software conflict.
4. Update or Reinstall Drivers
- Go to Device Manager:
- Expand Keyboards, Mice, and other pointing devices.
- Right-click and choose Update driver.
- If that doesn’t help, try uninstalling the device and restarting your PC.
5. Check for Malware
Some malware can cause erratic input behavior:
- Run a full scan using Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus like Malwarebytes.
6. BIOS and Firmware Update
- Visit your model’s support page:
🔗 Official HP® Support - Download and install the latest BIOS and firmware updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
