Hi @LeUra,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear about the display issues with your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop. Dealing with screen flickering and color distortion can be frustrating, especially when it interrupts your tasks. Let’s work together to figure out what’s going on and resolve it.
- Does the issue occur only when performing specific tasks (e.g., gaming, video playback) or does it happen consistently?
- Have you recently updated your graphics drivers or made changes to your display settings?
- Does the issue persist when connected to an external monitor or is it isolated to the laptop screen?
Test with an External Monitor
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV via HDMI or another compatible cable.
- If the display on the external monitor works fine, the issue is likely with the laptop screen or its connection.
- If the external monitor shows the same behavior, the problem might be related to the GPU or drivers.
Update or Rollback Display Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Display Adapters, right-click your GPU (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD), and choose Update driver.
- If the issue started after a recent update, select Roll back driver to revert to the previous version.
- Restart your laptop and check if the problem persists.
Check Display Cables and Connections
- If you’re comfortable, carefully open the laptop and inspect the display cable for any loose or damaged connections.
- Ensure that the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard is securely in place and not bent or frayed.
Adjust Display Settings
- Go to Settings > System > Display and ensure the refresh rate is correctly set (e.g., 60 Hz or 144 Hz, depending on your laptop).
- Disable Hardware Acceleration in apps like browsers or video players to see if that stops the flickering.
Perform a Hardware Diagnostics Test
- Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP’s Diagnostics tool.
- Run a Display Test and a GPU Test to check for any hardware failures.
- If errors are found, note the error code and contact HP Support for further assistance.
Backup Your Data: If the problem worsens or indicates a potential hardware failure, backup your important files to prevent data loss. Contact phone support or take your unit to the nearest service center for further assistance.
Keep me posted for further assistance
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Hey, I've actually checked updates for drivers and they're all upto date and they were updated much before this issue started so I don't think that's the issue, and I don't have any external monitors.
All the system tests said my laptop passed.
The issue usually happens after like 15 mins (approx.) of using the laptop and it doesn't depend on the task I'm doing either, because it happens everytime I use my laptop.
I am going to take it to a repair shop in a few days so I'll update this post after that
