HP Pavilion 15 Gaming 15 c0x000
Microsoft Windows 11

My Touchpad is not scrolling when I scroll on the touchpad and it is also missing the facility to turn on/off the touchpad. Suggest me some ways to turn on/off the touchpad when the external mouse is connected to the laptop. It is recommended when I play games, the touchpad makes it a bit difficult for me to aim properly.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi @Pavilion15c0x00,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If the option to turn the touchpad on or off is missing in your Windows 11 settings on your HP Pavilion 15 Gaming laptop, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Touchpad Settings:

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
    2. If you don’t see any settings related to the touchpad, proceed to the next steps.

2. Update Touchpad Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest touchpad drivers installed.
  • Steps:
    1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.
    3. Right-click on your touchpad device (it may be listed as “Synaptics,” “ELAN,” or similar) and select Update driver.
    4. Choose Search automatically for drivers and follow the prompts.

3. Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:

  • If updating the drivers doesn’t work, try reinstalling them.
  • Steps:
    1. In Device Manager, right-click on your touchpad device and select Uninstall device.
    2. Confirm the uninstallation and restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the touchpad drivers.

4. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your system is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and driver issues.
  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
    2. Install any available updates and restart your computer.

5. Access Synaptics or ELAN Settings:

  • Some HP laptops use third-party software (like Synaptics or ELAN) to manage touchpad settings.
  • Steps:
    1. Look for a Synaptics or ELAN icon in the system tray or search for it in the Start menu.
    2. Open the application and check for touchpad settings there.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Pavilion15c0x00,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Check BIOS Settings:

  • Sometimes, the touchpad can be disabled in the BIOS.
  • Steps:
    1. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS by pressing the appropriate key during startup (often F10, Esc, or F2, depending on your model).
    2. Look for a Touchpad option in the BIOS settings and ensure it is enabled.
    3. Save changes and exit the BIOS.

7. Use the Keyboard Shortcut:

  • Many HP laptops have a function key to toggle the touchpad on and off. Look for a key with a touchpad icon (usually F5, F6, or similar) and press Fn + that key.

8. Perform a System Restore:

  • If the touchpad settings were previously accessible, consider performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state.
  • Steps:
    1. Type Create a restore point in the Start menu and select it.
    2. Click on System Restore and follow the prompts to restore your system.

By following these steps, you should be able to restore the touchpad settings on your HP Pavilion 15 Gaming laptop. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to HP support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
