Hi,
I was trying to connect my VALVE INDEX VR to my laptop by THUNDERBOLT connection (using an adaptor USB C / DISPLAY PORT 1.4) but the STEAM VR software cant read the connection.
Maybe because my Nvidia GPU is not connected to the THUNDERBOLT port. Is there a way to connect them?
Edit: I understood that it may run on NVIDIA OPTIMUS configuration. I doubt this is the problem.... I wonder why STEAM VR read the headset as disconnected... while windows read it as GENERAL FLAT MONITOR 640X480....
Hope anybody knows or at least have an idea

I found this link: Oculus Rift S And Valve Index Won't Work On Laptops With Only HDMI (uploadvr.com)
It's about having the THUNDERBOLT 4 (DP ALTMODE) built directly on the dedicated GPU.
In order to know if it is so go to Nvidia control panel -> Surround and PhysX, there you will see an illustration showing which ports are connected where.
Hope it will be helpful
