HP Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I switch to tablet mode and attempt to use my active stylus to ink in an MS Word document, the touch keyboard pops up.  I have tried stopping the touch keyboard and handwriting services in services and have set it to Manual--to no avail.  The moment I switch to  tablet mode, the keyboard icon shows up in the lower tray and any touch anywhere in the document brings up the keyboard.  This also happens in OneNote.  It renders the active stylus--the reason I purchased this laptop--unuseable.  I switched to this HP from a Surface Pro but may have to migrate back because of this problem.  When I select "Stop" in Services, the service stops briefly, then switches from Manual to Automatic and starts again.  When I select Manual without Stop, it stays "Manual" but I get the same results.  Help!

Hi @w-bruce

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try these steps -

1. Open Settings, and click on the Devices option.

2. Click on Pen & Windows Ink on the left side of the screen, and check Ignore touch input when I’m using my pen.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
