My touch screen will click random places itself without me touching it.  Most of the time it is on the right side of the screen where the scroll bar is.  I have tried cleaning the screen many times, but it keeps just getting worse.  I have troble reading anything like an article for school work because it will randomly scroll up as I am reading.  Sometimes it will even close out the window I have open.  It is also hard to type because it will click random places on the screen and make me start typing in the wrong spots.  Is there any way to fix thihs and if there isn't is there any way to just turn off the touch screen.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

As I understand the touchscreen is clicking on random places and requires a fix,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you check if it works properly on the BIOS screen to identify if it's either a hardware or a software issue?

If not, I have a few steps that should resolve your concern:

Attempt to run a test using the HP hardware diagnostic tool,

If the Touch screen isn't appearing on the diagnostics,

I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please update the BIOS & Chip-set drivers from the HP website, if the issue persists, reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue

If it doesn't work on BIOS either, it's a hardware failure and you may need to Contact HP to set up a hardware repair service.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my HP Spectre. The issue is hard to reproduce, but comes up maybe every other day or so. Sometimes rebooting fixes the issue, sometime it does not.

There are a couple of fixes I found by searching online, although these fixes haven't been in effect on my computer long enough for me to know if they work or not. I'll post them here though just in case.

A) The most promising one is [edit] It is to disable the "Turn on fast startup" option in the power settings.

B) Another one a few people have posted is to disable the touchscreen via the device manager. It is located in the DM under "Human Interface Devices -> HID-compliant touch screen".  Of course, that means that you'd no longer be able to use the touch screen. So I'm hoping that  solution "A" does the trick.
