@EvanM12, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your touchscreen stopped working after upgrading your HP Notebook from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
Here's how to troubleshoot and (most likely) fix it:
Step 1: Check if Touchscreen is Enabled in Device Manager
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Human Interface Devices section.
- Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
- If it’s listed but disabled, right-click and select Enable.
- If it’s not listed, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Scan for Hardware Changes
- In Device Manager, right-click on your PC's name at the top of the list.
- Click Scan for hardware changes.
- If the touchscreen driver reappears, enable it.
- If it’s still missing, continue to Step 3.
Step 3: Reinstall or Update Touchscreen Driver
- Visit HP Support Website and enter your product name/model.
- Download the latest drivers for:
- Chipset
- Touchscreen (if listed) or Intel Serial I/O driver
- Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
Step 4: Enable Touchscreen in UEFI/BIOS
Sometimes, the touchscreen can be disabled at the hardware level:
- Restart your PC and press Esc, F10, or Del (depending on your model) to enter BIOS.
- Navigate to Advanced or Built-in Devices.
- Ensure that Touchscreen is enabled.
- Save and exit.
Step 5: Try HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Shut down your computer.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open diagnostics.
- Run a Component Test → Touchscreen test to check hardware functionality.
Step 6: Optional: Roll Back to Windows 10
If none of the above steps work and the touchscreen is essential, consider rolling back to Windows 10 (if within 10 days of the upgrade) or performing a clean install with the correct drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
