My touchscreen started spazzing. By spazzing, I mean that it would act as if I was touching the screen when I was not. This caused it to open and close documents/ads/etc. I have no clue what started it. I tried to update and restart my laptop, but the timing seems to be random. Sometimes I would have to borrow my sister's laptop (she has the same model but not the same issue!) because it would spazz too much, but other times it would go for weeks without a glitch. I finally had to figure out how to disable it altogether, but I loved the touch screen feature before it started acting up. Has anybody else experienced this problem and/or does anyone know how to fix it?

@Reynie,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond that, I recommend you update BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you uninstall the touchscreen driver from device manager and then restart the computer and check whether the issue is resolved.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Select the search box in the taskbar, enter device manager, and then select Device Manager in the results.
  2. Select the arrow to the left of Human Interface Devices.
  3. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select Uninstall.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

Good day! Take care 🙂

Cheers!
