Hello everyone,
I have a Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx.
It's a new laptop and I tried tablet mode for the first time today but I encountered the following issue. In tablet mode, my touch keyboard does not automatically show up when I press to enter text. I can access it when I click the icon on my taskbar, but I want to use the touch keyboard in full-screen tablet mode (for netflix and playing games), as the laptop will folded so I can't access the physical keyboard. So far I have looked for answers on the internet and I have spoken to a Microsoft employee who remotely looked at my computer, and said that my settings were correct, but it still didn't work, so they recommended I call HP but it's now outside of operating hours so I'm posting instead.
I'll list the following things that I have tried:
1. Restarted the computer
2. Uninstalled recent updates, which didn't work, then re-installed them again, which also didn't work
3. Settings --> Devices --> Typing --> Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached
I have tried with this on and off but neither setting works (which makes sense as it's not relevant)
4. Run services:
Win + r --> services.msc --> ok --> Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service --> Properties
The startup type is 'automatic' and the status is 'running'. I also checked the dependencies listed, Remote Procedure Call (RPC), DCOM Service Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper. They are all automatic and running. No other dependencies are listed for the latter two.
4. Ease of access --> Keyboard --> Use your device without a physical keyboard --> Use the on-screen keyboard (toggle)
I suspect that this is the problem as it doesn't work as others have stated. When I enable this a small keyboard appears, but it is different to the touch keyboard that appears at the bottom of the screen when the taskbar icon is pressed (this is the one I actually want). The keyboard shortcut for this small keyboard is Win + Ctrl + o. This keyboard can't be used in fullscreen tablet mode so it's not the one I'm after.
Could someone please help me with this? I have been trying to solve this for two hours and I'm now at my wits end.
Thanks,
Daniela
