Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your touchpad is not responsive, and you can't locate the drivers, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check if Touchpad is Enabled:
- Ensure that the touchpad is enabled. Some laptops have a physical switch or function key combination to toggle the touchpad on and off. Refer to your laptop's manual to find the correct key or switch.
Check Device Manager:
- Open the Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager."
- Look for the "Mice and other pointing devices" section.
- If you don't see your touchpad listed, there might be a hardware issue. Try restarting your laptop.
Update Touchpad Drivers:
- Visit the official HP support website for your laptop model: https://support.hp.com/in-en
- Enter your laptop model and look for the latest touchpad drivers.
- Download and install the updated drivers.
Windows Update:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, Windows Update may include driver updates.
Roll Back or Uninstall Touchpad Drivers:
- In the Device Manager, right-click on the touchpad under "Mice and other pointing devices" and select "Properties."
- Go to the "Driver" tab and try rolling back the driver to a previous version.
- If that doesn't work, you can uninstall the touchpad driver, restart your laptop, and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Updating the BIOS/UEFI can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point where the touchpad was working. This will not affect your personal files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
