Hi @Bubli4an,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the touchpad.
If the touchpad on your HP Laptop - 15s-eq1001ua is not working and the driver isn't visible in Device Manager, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Touchpad Settings in BIOS
- Access BIOS: Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.
- Check Touchpad Settings: Look for a setting related to the touchpad (often found under the "Advanced" tab). Ensure that it is enabled.
- Save and Exit: Save any changes and exit the BIOS.
2. Enable Touchpad with Function Key
- Some laptops have a function key to enable/disable the touchpad. Try pressing Fn + F7 or a similar key combination that has a touchpad icon on it.
3. Check Device Manager
- Open Device Manager: Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Scan for Hardware Changes: In Device Manager, click on Action > Scan for hardware changes. This might detect the touchpad and install the necessary driver.
- Check Hidden Devices: In Device Manager, click on View > Show hidden devices. Look for any entries under Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices that may represent the touchpad.
4. Update or Reinstall Touchpad Driver
HP Support Website:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter your laptop’s model number and download the latest touchpad driver available for your model.
- Install the driver and reboot your laptop.
Manually Add Driver:
- If the touchpad still isn’t recognized, try manually adding the driver in Device Manager:
- Right-click Mice and other pointing devices and select Add legacy hardware.
- Follow the prompts to manually install the touchpad driver.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Bubli4an,
Here are the next steps below.
5. Use Windows Update
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Windows might find and install the missing driver.
6. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP Diagnostics utility.
- Run the diagnostics test on the touchpad to check for any hardware issues.
7. Check Windows Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure that the touchpad is turned on.
- If the touchpad settings are grayed out, it could indicate that Windows is not detecting the touchpad.
8. Perform a System Restore
- If the touchpad was working before and recently stopped, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state where the touchpad was functional:
- Press Windows + R, type rstrui.exe, and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to choose a restore point and restore your system.
9. Check for Hardware Issues
- If all else fails, there may be a hardware issue with the touchpad itself. In this case, it’s recommended to contact HP Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance.
10. Reset BIOS to Default Settings
- If you've made any changes to the BIOS, consider resetting it to default settings to see if that resolves the issue:
- Enter BIOS by pressing F10 on startup.
- Select Restore Defaults (usually under the Exit tab).
- Save changes and exit the BIOS.
If the problem persists after trying these steps, there may be an internal hardware issue with the touchpad, which would likely require repair. In that case, I recommend you contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
