Hi @Tofael,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like your touch screen and touchpad are both experiencing issues, and the I2C HID device error in the event log points to a problem with the driver or device. The error code 0xC00000E5 suggests a device initialization issue. Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and resolve these issues:
1. Update or Reinstall Drivers
Touch Screen:
Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- Look for a device related to the touch screen (it might be listed as "I2C HID Device" or similar).
- Right-click and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Drivers:
- If updating doesn’t work, right-click on the device and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.
Touchpad:
Device Manager:
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click your touchpad device (it might be listed with the manufacturer’s name or as “PS/2 Compatible Mouse”).
- Select Update driver and choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Similarly, if updating doesn’t help, right-click and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall the touchpad drivers.
2. Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Install any pending updates, as they might include fixes for hardware issues.
3. Check HP Support
- Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu. It can help diagnose and update drivers specific to your HP laptop.
- Visit the HP Support website and enter your laptop’s model number. Download and install the latest drivers for your touch screen and touchpad.
4. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or Del during startup).
- Look for any settings related to the touch screen or touchpad and ensure they are enabled.
- Check if there is a BIOS update available on the HP support site and follow their instructions to update it. BIOS updates can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues.
5. Perform a System Scan
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for cmd, right-click, and select Run as administrator).
- Run the command: sfc /scannow. This will scan and attempt to repair any corrupted system files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
