HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)

My touchpad is not working. Attached an external mouse using USB which works fine. The touchscreen on my laptop is working fine too. But the touchpad doesn't seem to work. Tried re-installing through Device Manager as well but no help. Downloaded a new driver ELAN Precision touchpad driver from hp website but it does not get listed in Device Manager.

Hi @ChhaviR,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, which is great. Since reinstalling the driver and checking the Device Manager didn't resolve the issue, there might be a couple more things you can try.

  • BIOS Update: Sometimes, touchpad issues can be resolved by updating the laptop's BIOS. You can usually download the BIOS update from the HP website and follow their instructions for installation.
  • Check Touchpad Settings: Sometimes, touchpad functionality can be accidentally disabled in the laptop's settings. Go to your laptop's settings (usually found in the Control Panel or Settings app), and look for the touchpad settings. Ensure that the touchpad is enabled and configured correctly.
  • Hardware Issue: If none of the software solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the touchpad itself.

Since you've already tried re-installing the driver, it's odd that it doesn't even appear in the Device Manager after installation. This could indicate a deeper issue, possibly related to compatibility or system corruption.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
