Where can I get a Windows 10 touchpad driver for the HP Elitebook 860 16 Inch G9?
The touchpad works fine in UEFI/BIOS setup. The touchpad isn't detected as a device within Windows 10.
I've tried fully updating every driver via Windows update and via HP's Support Assist tool.
The touchpad isn't recognized as a device at all.

I ended up doing a factory restore with the HP Cloud Restore tool.
That ended up booting to a Windows 11 installation process, and after that the trackpad still didn't work.
After several rounds of Windows updates, the trackpad did work. But the audio didn't.
I had to download a specific driver from the HP site for the audio to actually work. Before I did that, the audio device was detected, and Windows was trying to play sound on the speakers, but there was no actual sound. Headphone output worked fine, but the internal speakers simply didn't work, even though I verified that the speakers were the active output, nothing was muted, volume was up, etc.
The HP Support Assist tool didn't help getting the correct audio driver version installed. It said that all the drivers were up to date, and the audio troubleshooter was of no help either. Only by manually downloading and installing the specific driver was I able to get sound out of the internal speakers.
This is a terrible out of the box experience. I can't imagine a non-technical user sorting any of this out.
And worse, I can't imagine the answer being "I can confirm that there is no driver available for download for your model" for the trackpad issue. Clearly a working driver exists. Windows 10 and 11 share the same fundamental driver model. If there's a Windows 11 driver there's no reason there shouldn't be a Windows 10 driver as well (this isn't an XP vs. Vista scenario, or 32-bit vs. 64-bit scenario).
If I had another laptop of this specific model, I would try to get everything working on Windows 10 (which the product sales page says is supported). But I needed this prepped for a user ASAP, so I had to settle for Windows 11 and still had to wrestle with it for basic functionality to work.

Hello @BMS6
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.
After checking, I can confirm that there is no driver available for download for your model, but please test the driver of the previous notebook model.
(1) Create Windows system <restore point>
How to Create a System Restore Point on Windows 10 or Windows 11
(2) Download and install / update
Synaptics PointStyk Driver | 19.6.1.21 Rev.A | 16.8 MB | Sep 8, 2021 | Download |
(3) Restart Windows
(4) Test again
(5) Please report your results
