HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just got this laptop,  and the problem has been happening out of the box. I am extremely frustrated and have been trying to fix the issue for hours. I've reinstalled drivers, I've tried to use the HID compliant driver. I'm at my wits end. I can't use the touchpad at all, when I try to move the pointer I'm met with behavior that is indicating a click and hold.

Product Number: 450B5UA#ABA

I've found posts with similar issues from 2017, 2018 and across multiple laptops. I'd assume that something would be done to resolve this issue en masse over that timeframe or a more suitable driver would be presented but even after removing and reinstalling based on the HP site I'm still having the same issue.

Multiple driver downloads/uninstalls/reinstalls/restarts. Grr..

I have an HP Envy 360 that I purchased new in December 2020.  I am having a recurrent issue with my touchpad/cursor not working since April.  I've contacted Tech Support on several occasions to rectify the problem.  I've allowed them to remote in to uninstall and re-install drivers for the Synaptic Touchpad.  They successfully reinstall the driver and get the touchpad working.  However, once I turn off the laptop, the driver mysteriously disappears and I'm back to square one.  This is absolutely ridiculous!  I've requested a replacement laptop since I'm still under warranty till December 2021 but I'm told all they can do is repair the laptop.  If a product is under warranty and the product cannot be successfully repaired it needs to be replaced!  I, too, have noticed this issue has been a problem for the past several years.  Obviously, there is a major touchpad driver issue and HP has made no attempt to come up with a solution.  I will continue to post about this problem until HP gets its act together and comes up with a permanent fix.
