The hp driver list doesn't have the drive i need. I need 12C HID Device driver i am pretty sure but the hp website only gives the following:
- ELAN Fingerprint Sensor Driver
- ELAN Precision Touchpad Filter Driver
- HP Wireless Button Driver
This is in the category of Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices (3).
I have two 12C HID Device driver, one for my touch screen and one for my touchpad but the one with the touchpad it has a /!\ symbol on it. I can not rollback the driver, I can not update it, and when I uninstall it it reinstalls on restart and still doesn't work nor can I find this driver anywhere. The touchpad doesn't work since half of 2022. Thanks.

Hi @jetflip09,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
If you're dealing with a touchpad issue on your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dw1000 and the HP website doesn't list the specific driver you need, you can try the following approaches to resolve the problem:
1. Check for Windows Update:
- Sometimes, Windows Update can automatically find and install the correct drivers for your hardware.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
2. Use Device Manager to Update Drivers:
- Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Find the Touchpad Device: Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section and look for your touchpad device. It might be listed as something like “HID-compliant mouse” or similar.
- Update Driver: Right-click on the touchpad device and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
3. Use the HP Support Assistant:
- HP Support Assistant: If you haven’t already, download and install the HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
- Check for Drivers: Open HP Support Assistant and check if it offers any updates for your touchpad drivers.
4. Uninstall and Reinstall the Touchpad Driver:
- Device Manager: Open Device Manager and right-click on the touchpad device.
- Uninstall Device: Select Uninstall device and then restart your laptop. Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver upon reboot.
5. Check for Software Conflicts:
- Conflicting Software: Ensure that no third-party software (like custom touchpad management software) is conflicting with the touchpad driver.
- Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode to see if the touchpad works there. If it does, the issue might be related to a software conflict.
6. Perform a System Restore:
- Restore Point: If the touchpad issue started recently, use System Restore to return your system to a point when the touchpad was working.
- Access System Restore: Search for Create a restore point in Windows, then select System Restore and follow the instructions.
7. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Enter BIOS/UEFI: Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing F2, Esc, or another designated key.
- Touchpad Settings: Check if there are any settings related to the touchpad that might be disabled or incorrectly configured.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with your touchpad. If the problem persists I recommend you contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
