Hi @Summertime69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that the touchpad stopped working after your daughter cleaned it with a cloth, soap, and water two days ago.

Because the issue started immediately after the cleaning, let's first rule out a temporary touchpad/software issue before assuming there is hardware damage.

Please try these steps:

Make sure the touchpad is completely dry and free of any soap residue. Do not apply any liquid or cleaning solution.

Press the Esc key several times.

Gently drum your fingers on the touchpad for about 10 seconds.

Turn the Chromebook completely off, then turn it back on.

If it still does not work, perform a hardware reset:

  • Turn off the Chromebook.
  • Press and hold the Refresh key and tap the Power button.
  • Release the Refresh key when the Chromebook starts.

To ensure your device receives the appropriate care, we recommend visiting an authorized HP service center. Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.
