Microsoft Windows 11

Device: HP EliteBook 840 G3

(I'm in India right now but my PC is from US)

I have an HP EliteBook 840 G3 that I bought in 2017. For a while now, it's been giving me issues with the touchpad. Sometimes I use it and it's fine, but at random times, the touchpad / cursor starts moving around rapidly on the screen and clicking everything without me touching it. It messes up everything I've been working on, and I literally have to force the PC to shut down in order for it to stop. It almost feels like the computer is possessed. My PC's processor doesn't meet the Windows 11 requirement, but I installed using ISO (and It runs very well though) but the touchpad problem existed in windows 10 also.

My problem is almost same as that mentioned in the article in the below link:

Touchpad/cursor jumping around, clicking uncontrollably - HP Support Community - 7470019

The only difference is that the cursor doesn't disappear for me as it does for the owner in the article (And yeah, my PC doesn't have a hardware for touch or pen input like the HP Envy user in the article has. So, I'm only left with mouse). Whenever this happens, I'll have to struggle to open the settings (while the cursor is shaking without any input) using my mouse and then to trackpad settings and finally turn it off until when the shaking keeps on. I know that double tapping on the touchpad's corner disables it but, that thing doesn't work when it starts shaking. And it happens randomly and suddenly. I have already tried all the solutions in that article as well as other websites too (most of them said reinstalling drivers would do). But it had nothing to do with drivers. At times, the touch pad works perfectly fine but once it starts shaking, I'm forced to use mouse and struggle to turn the touchpad off.

I think it has something to do with the phone link app. I feel Phone Link is culprit because due to this problem I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows many times. In the starting it worked pretty well but it starts shaking a few days later. The last time I reinstalled Windows I noticed that when I linked my phone in the Phone Link App in a few hours the touchpad starts shaking the cursor without touching it. And then remember this happened after the previous time I reinstalled Windows also. So, I tried resetting the Phone Link app also, but the problem still persists.

One more thing I noticed is that when the intensity of shaking is low, I tried using the touchpad and when trying to move the cursor using touchpad it scrolls and when I try to scroll it switches apps and when I try to switch apps it switches desktops (workspaces). It means that 2 finger gestures are used when I use one finger, three finger gestures are used when I use two fingers, and 4 finger when I use three. I wonder where the additional finger comes from. Well, we can't blame the hardware because other times the touchpad works as expected.

I reported this issue to an experienced Notebook expert and his reply was that it is normal because my notebook is too old and the only solution is to use a mouse.

I can use mouse in some cases but not every time. By the way I purchased my notebook so that I need not carry any accessories to use it as they are needed for a desktop.

I hope this problem is solved soon. Because I really need my touchpad for gesture operations since my keyboard's Windows key isn't there for me to use Ctrl+Windows+Arrow Keys to switch Dekstops/Workspaces and many other shortcuts too which include 'Windows' key. (I use Ctrl+Esc to open Windows Start though). And also that I can't use my mouse to scroll because it's scrolling button is damaged. I need to use the scroll bar in the Window. Here's a video of what's happening:

Other than this touchpad issue, I have got a type-C port on my HP EliteBook 840 G3 and a 66W charger which I got along with my iQOO Z6 Pro mobile phone. How can I charge my PC using my phone charger? (Both of their wattage difference is one watt where my PC's charger is 65W and phone charger is 66W).

I've plugged it in using the charger provided with PC, but it isn't charging since when I started writing this. I hope a smash on the adaptor would do it as it does every time.
