HP spectre x360 ae001nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have discovered that when I try to play games or simply just use my touchpad and keyboard at the same time, the touchpad doesn't react and just freezes. A second later it reacts once I stop typing. I have tried the synaptics SmartSense option by setting it to off to all three of the sliders (Synaptics v19.3.31.31) but nothing happened. There is no delay setting in windows either.

Please help as I just got this laptop yesterday.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae001nd. I read that while playing games or while performing other actions, if you use the touchpad and the keyboard at the same time, the touchpad freezes. A second later the touchpad starts to work again. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

Let us uninstall the touchpad drivers and reinstall them.  The following steps will help:

  • Open the device manager.
  • Expand "Mice and other pointing devices". Right click on the touchpad drivers in there and select uninstall.
  • Close the device manager and restart the laptop.
  • You may download and install the touchpad drivers from this link.

If the issue persists then you may check out the steps mentioned in "Adjusting TouchPad or ClickPad pointing sensitivities" from this HP document

Also, updating the BIOS could help in fixing touchpad related issues. You may update the BIOS via this link. Please ensure that the charger is connected to the laptop during the BIOS update.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. let me know how it goes. Good luck!
