HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-eh1000 (2H5A7AV)

After the update to windows 11 24H2 the touchpad stopped working. Updating the driver didn't work so i disinstalled it, but now I can't find a compatible driver file to redownload and the hp website offers only the filter driver file under the options for my laptop.

@Francesca_00, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue with the missing touchpad driver on your HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-eh1000 (2H5A7AV) after updating to Windows 11 24H2:

Visit the Official HP Drivers Page

Go to the official HP support page for your laptop model: HP Pavilion 15-eh1000 Drivers Page

Select the Correct Operating System

  • Under “Choose your operating system”, select:
    • Windows
    • Windows 11

If 24H2 is not listed, choose the latest available Windows 11 version.

Download the Synaptics or Precision Touchpad Driver

  • Look under the “Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices” section.
  • If only a Filter Driver is listed, try the following:
    • Expand “Driver - Original” or “Software - Solutions” sections.
    • If still unavailable, proceed to Step 4.

Use Windows Update or Device Manager

  1. Open Device Manager:
    • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager
  2. Scan for Hardware Changes:
    • Right-click on your PC name at the top → Click Scan for hardware changes
  3. Manually Install Driver:
    • If the touchpad appears under “Other devices” or “Unknown devices”:
      • Right-click → Update driverSearch automatically for drivers
      • If that fails, choose Browse my computer for drivers → then Let me pick from a list → Select HID-compliant touchpad or Synaptics/ELAN/Precision Touchpad if available.

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Install HP Support Assistant

Additional Tips

If the touchpad still doesn’t work, try checking Windows Optional Updates:

  • Go to Settings → Windows Update → Advanced options → Optional updates.
  • Look for any touchpad or input device drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
